Disaster Preparedness
The Village of Fishkill offers professional mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery service to our residents through training, education, and coordinated management of our emergency response community thereby reducing the impact and stress of natural and man-made disasters on the population. All Village emergency staff has completed the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training.
This Office works closely with the Village Board of Trustees, the Village Police Department, and the Village Fire Department. The Mayor of the Village of Fishkill has the authority under New York State Executive Law, Article 2-B, to declare a State of Emergency.
The Village of Fishkill is a voting member of the Town of Fishkill Disaster Preparedness Committee, which operates under the authority of New York State Executive Law. This Committee meets regularly and maintains an updated “Disaster Preparedness Manual,” which outlines response criteria to differing events and further lists logistical resources that would be needed to manage those responses.
